Fed Chairman Powell Shows A “Tell”- by NEIL SISKIND

Chairman Powell said today that the Fed is trying to balance between inflation being low and an overheating economy.

With all respect, this is a ridiculous comment. First of all, it’s an obvious comment. But it was in answer to a question by a Congressman as to why the Fed is raising rates while wages are so low or so stubbornly stagnant.

Thus, it is clear that the Fed is – notwithstanding its mandates- targeting assets. If there is little to no wage inflation and little to no price inflation, then raising rates can only be for the purpose of slowing down stock and housing bubbles.
